Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Essays, Dissertations, etc.

How and when should I submit my essay?

A. Where syllabuses require the submission of an essay, folio, dissertation, etc. this should not be bound or placed in display books.  It should either be emailed in a readable format to the College or sent with the entry form on plain paper.  If using email, a receipt will be sent by email and candidates should not assume it has been received until a receipt is returned.

If sent in hard copy format, it will be fed through a sheet feeder so must be free of staples, post-it notes, etc. and should be on simple A4 paper.

Musical compositions may be submitted by email in Sibelius format.

Q. Speech Grades I-VII.  At the bottom of the lists it says “A suitable own choice poem” and “A suitable own choice speech from drama”.  Are these required in addition to the two recitations?

A. No.  These are merely additional alternatives.  It is VCM’s policy to allow a wide opportunity for “own choice” so that teachers and candidates can choose alternative pieces of an appropriate standard.
